Make money creating websites with Artisteer!
Read on to discover how you could be making some lazy cash on the side by designing sites for your mates with Wordpress and Artisteer!
Artisteer is the perfect choice for folk who want to design their own websites without having to learn to code HTML or CSS, or slice images in Photoshop. But many people have little interest in spending time learning a process to get a website built, even though it may only take them a few hours the first time. This opens up great opportunities for individuals with a knack for computers to make.
Think about it: this is a great exchange – your friend wants a website for his band, but just wants to play music! Who can blame him? Make no mistake: a website creates money for people who have a product. A band’s income, for example may be in record sales eventually, but initially, they’ll be paid for gigs, and here’s where a website pays dividends. MySpace and Facebook are not enough: having a website indicates that a business is a serious, viable concern.
Why would my mate choose me to do it?
Why not? If you show him the site you’ve created, and how you can drive it from the Wordpress Admin Panel, or your iphone, his imagination is sure to fire!
You could sit down and facilitate the process: he says “make it red” and you drive.
Why wouldn’t he just do it himself?
Well, he could, in which case you’ve done him a favour by passing on some good advice. It’s not uncommon for people to realise quite quickly that they’d rather spend time publishing content than fiddling with the tech.
How do I start?

Create a custom WP Theme in 5 mins flat!
- Load up Artisteer
- Select “Create new Wordpress Theme”
- Click “Suggest Idea”
You can click this repeatedly, and its like rolling a dice to select between the many design variations available from within Artisteer.
Tip: If you see something you like, even just a little, select “Save As” and name it as a draft. This will allow you to return to the design and figure out how to get the same effect in your chosen design.
When you find something that inspires you, hone in on an aspect of the design which you’d like to tweak, and select the appropriate button from Artisteer’s ribbon toolbar.
You can have Artisteer “Suggest Ideas” for each subsection of your design, or you can change each aspect of the design directly.
Once you’ve settled on a design, you’re ready to publish!
You’ll soon learn the terms that artisteer uses to describe design elements.
Applying your theme
In order to see your theme in action, you’ll need to:
- Export – (exprting as a Wordpress theme is the default)
- Upload – to your wp-themes/ directory (see – using FTP to upload my Wordpress Theme)
- Activate – from within the Wordpress Admin Panel > Presentation

Artisteer Theme Generator for Mac OSX
Artisteer – certainly the easiest way to make a custom unique Wordpress Theme – is now available for the Mac without having to run Parallels or VMWare or boot into Bootcamp.
You can download the latest version for the Mac (still in Beta) from the Artisteer News page. Its got a trial version, which is fully functional, but outputs a watermark over the design.
